- Expert System Development On the Macintosh
-
- A Brief Survey of Tools and Techniques
-
-
-
- by Ann Marie O'Connell, P.E.
-
-
-
- In addition to the wide variety of programming languages suitable for
- artificial intelligence (AI) work, a number of expert system shells for the
- Macintosh have been released (or upgraded) in the last 18 months. These
- vary widely in features, cost, and conformance to the Macintosh interface.
-
-
-
- A table, and some discussion comparing these expert system shells has
- been prepared, based on the manufacturers advertized features, on
- previously published reviews, and in the cases where working copies were
- available, on the writer's own efforts to develop a small test case expert
- system using the tool.
-
-
-
- The report goes on to discuss the features which the writer found to be
- most (and least) desireable in developing various types of expert systems
- in her previous position as a Knowledge Engineer with Texas Instruments.
- Recommendations regarding types of expert system development projects
- most likely to succeed under various organizational constraints are also made.
